Welcome to the Compendium of Lost Words, a component of The Phrontistery. The Compendium lists over 400 of the rarest modern English words - in fact, ones that have been entirely absent from the Internet, including all online dictionaries, until now. By revealing the existence of these words online, I do not necessarily promote their revival, but I do encourage an appreciation of the flexibility of English vocabulary. In theory, the Compendium will be the only web page on which each of these words occurs in its proper English context. Click on a link below to take you to the four main Compendium pages, organized alphabetically by word, or on the links for more information about the site.
We visit many great sites & always love to & find a passion for sharing these wonderful sites to all. We would like to thank you for browsing. We hope to enlighten the many as to the wonders of Science.
Our main Science we follow & share mostly is Geology, we find it fascinating and we tend to think that many who do not know enough about Geology seem to mock it, although it may seem boring to many, the plain fact is without Geology we simply would not know the abundance of facts about our one and only great Planet Earth!

Iain stewart @Profiainstewart Geologist and broadcaster @EarthSciPlymUni tweeting about Geology, Earth science, Geography and all things Planet Earth. Scottish-born geologist Iain Stewart hosted BBC documentary How to Grow a Planet on how plants shaped the Earth. Credit: BBC WHEN A GEOLOGIST SEES A ROCK, they are mentally transported to an entirely different, almost unrecogniseable world from the distant past. For everyone else, it’s just a boring old rock. The challenge is to communicate the story that rock has to tell to someone who hasn’t done any science since a bit of physics or chemistry in high school 20 years ago. Geology is more than a Science to us, its a way of life!
